thermometer.pngA Home Away from Home: What more to sooth the soul than a little bit of Matza ball soup? And where else to get some, but at a Friday night dinner table? Shabbos, besides for being the holiest day of the week, is also a time to take a break from the thoughts and struggles of the workweek. The clear mind, and the time for reflection have a healing effect on all those who take the time off to recharge and celebrate Shabbos. Chabad Lubavitch of Berks County has created a home away from home for all those looking for a meaningful experience.
Over the past twelve years we have started a tradition, extending an invitation to all Jewish patients at the Caron Treatment Center here in Berks County. The spirit of Shabbos and the warmth of the family Shabbos table has brought Judaism, encouragement and hope to many in despair, and has, for countless individuals, served as a turning point in their lives. In order to keep pace with the growing numbers who are turning to us for support, we need to physically expand our space. Our objective is to create an environment where we can host Shabbos dinners in a warm and comfortable atmosphere.

We serve hundreds of guests throughout the year and thousands of meals, and attendance continues to increase. To assist our mission of providing a Home away from Home and the continued growth of our efforts, we would like to expand our facilities to be able to accommodate all who wish to join.
