Our Rabbi
Rabbi Lipsker is the founder and director of Chabad Lubavitch of Berks County and has been working with the Caron Treatment Center since 1999. Rabbi Lipsker is a certified drug counselor and has many years of experience dealing with adolescents and adults in recovery from substance abuse. Throughout his years in the field, Rabbi Lipsker has formed a network of long-lasting relationships between patients and families that extends far beyond their stay at Caron.
Rabbi Yosef Lipsker was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and received his rabbinical ordination from the Central Lubavitch Yeshiva. While completing his rabbinical studies, Rabbi Lipsker spent two years in Sydney, Australia as a student Rabbi, organizing lectures, programs and retreats. Prior to settling in Reading, he served as assistant Rabbi and program director for Chabad centers in Connecticut, England, and Florida. As the director of the Chabad of Berks County community, Rabbi Lipsker performs all pastoral duties and guides community members through all life-cycle events. He is involved with community outreach and other local Jewish organizations, arranges numerous family events, and provides religious and personal counseling. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Reading Jewish Federation; as a consultant and spiritual guide to Jewish patients at the Caron Treatment Center; and as a visiting chaplain at Reading Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospital, and Berks County Prison.
Rabbi Lipsker and his wife Chana,together with their family, have conducted years of highly successful programs in Berks County and beyond, drawing on every segment of this diverse community.
